Kirk Herbstreit has doubled down on his statement of Alabama bouncing back in the fall. He said on the Pat McAfee Show that when people say Nick Saban is done, that is when the Crimson Tide whips up on everyone. He continued this sentiment in an interview with Roger Hoover of Crimson Tide Sports Network. Herbstreit said put him down for Alabama until Saban retires.

“Since he has been the coach, they come so close, and then they don’t make the playoff, and it’s like ‘oh my gosh, it’s over,” Herbstreit said about the overreactions from people when Alabama does not make the playoff. “And then, they go on to win a championship or they make the playoff and get upset in the semifinal, and it’s like ‘oh no.’ If you go back and watch it, there is an ebb and flow to Alabama. And when they lose and come up short of the playoff last year, everyone talks about Kirby Smart and Georgia. They deserve all the credit for what they have accomplished. But when you say there is a new sheriff in town and Alabama is done, I’m not falling for it. When Nick Saban retires and is done, then I will look at Alabama and say what are they going to do now? As long as he is the head coach and they are coming off a ‘down year,’ put me down for Alabama.”
