Nick Saban feels the Crimson Tide’s wide receiver room will take a step forward this upcoming season.
The Crimson Tide did not have a 1,000-yard wide receiver last season for the first time since 2017 when Calvin Ridley led the Tide in receiving yards with 967. Jermaine Burton was Alabama’s leading receiver last season with 677 yards and seven touchdowns. Ja’Corey Brooks followed Burton with 674 yards and eight touchdowns. Both return to Alabama, and Saban believes the Alabama wide receiver group as a whole is improved.
“At other positions on offense, we probably, I think, are improved,” Saban said. “The receivers are same guys, older, more experienced. We have got good runners, offensive line, doesn’t have a lot of experience returning but we have some really good young players who have developed nicely.”
As Alabama continues to try to figure out who will be its starting quarterback, a reliable wide receiver room will be very helpful to the Tide.
