Former Alabama DB Brian Branch signs rookie deal for Lions

The Detroit Lions selected two University of Alabama alums in the NFL Draft.

Jahmyr Gibbs signed his rookie contract, and now Brian Branch has signed his. Branch, a native Georgian, got taken in the second round (No. 45 overall) of the draft. He was the best player on Alabama’s defense at times in 2022, totaling 90 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, three sacks, seven pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, and two interceptions. Branch looks to become an impactful player in his first season with the Lions. He helped the Crimson Tide to a national championship in 2020.

According to Spotrac, Branch’s rookie deal is four years and worth $8.02 million. He pockets a $2.83 million signing bonus.

Detroit is looking forward to seeing how Branch performs as a rookie.
