JC Latham, a junior offensive tackle, did not mince words at SEC Football Media Days when he said the Crimson Tide will be physical and dominant up front. He stated the goals for the offensive unit are to win the Joe Moore Award and for him to capture the Outland Trophy as a top interior lineman. The Tide has taken steps to assure it happens as its linemen have been training with a guru to become an elite unit. Al Poodie Carson, a Krav Maga instructor and football coach, had several linemen for Alabama working on having violent and heavy hands. Players such as Latham, Tyler Booker, Seth McLaughlin, Darrian Dalcourt, Wilkin Formby, and Kadyn Proctor got a lot of work in. The Tide wants to show it has returned to being a physically imposing unit.

Carson referred to this unit as “Big, Angry, and Hungry to be the best in the country.”

Alabama is hungry to reclaim its title as the nation’s best by winning a national championship.

The aspiration begins with having an offensive line that sets the tone. Nick Saban wants a balanced attack, but it begins with athletes up front creating opportunities in the rushing attack and protecting the quarterback.

We will see if the Tide can put the violent hands to work on the field.
