4-Star DL London Merritt gets deeper look at Alabama, locks in season visit

London Merritt returned to Alabama to camp earlier this week.

Merritt attends Woodward Academy in Georgia, and he is a 2025 four-star recruit. He holds an impressive offer list, but his top 12 includes Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee and others.

The rising junior’s latest visit to Alabama allowed him to work out under Nick Saban and get a deeper look at the Alabama program.

“It was great,” Merritt told Touchdown Alabama. “I got a chance to work out for coach Saban. He said he liked my athleticism, and he would use me on the edge. I had a nice tour as well. Some of the stuff I missed the last time, I got to see. Overall, it was a very good visit.”

The four-star plans to return to Alabama in September to watch the Crimson Tide take on Texas in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Merritt feels Alabama is trending to remain one of his top schools.

“They are very high,” said Merritt. “All I can say is they will be in my top five when I trim down my top 12.”

Merritt is listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds. He is one of the most explosive defensive linemen prospects in the country with an explosively quick get-off. The Georgia product appeared to live in the opponent’s backfields as made several plays behind the line of scrimmage.
