He is having fun going through his third year of training camp for the New England Patriots.
RELATED: Mac Jones has an emphatic message for third season with Patriots
Mac Jones encountered struggles in 2022, but he believes the addition of Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator puts that behind him. The former Alabama quarterback had his “best practice” of camp Wednesday for the Patriots, according to the team’s beat reporters. Mark Daniels, who covers New England for Massachusetts Live, reports that Jones completed 78 percent of his passes (38-of-49) in the last four days of camp. Jones had the offense on fire Wednesday as several receiving options made plays.
The last four days of camp:
Mac Jones: 38/49 (78%)
Bailey Zappe: 32/47, INT (68%)— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) August 2, 2023
DeVante Parker, JuJu-Smith-Schuster, Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Hunter Henry, and Mike Gesicki were in on the action. Evan Lazar, a staff writer for Patriots.com, shared that Jones tossed a touchdown pass to Parker, hit Smith-Schuster in the back of the end zone for a score, and got Henry and Kendrick Bourne involved. Jones was consistent in the short to intermediate throws, but he also made his presence felt on deep plays. The offense is starting to feed off the former first-round pick’s energy.
After this sequence, Mac threw a jump ball touchdown to Parker and hit JuJu on a toe-tapping catch in the back of the end zone in red zone work. Really nice day for QB1. https://t.co/Z2cXvLbxcP

Smith-Schuster calls Jones the “spark plug” of the offense.
JuJu Smith-Schuster on the touchdown dances he’s been doing with Mac Jones:
“Honestly Mac pulls up and we just make up new dances as we go.”Called Mac the “spark plug” of the offense. “We all feed off his energy.”

He completed 13 of 15 passes in team drills, including two touchdowns on Wednesday.

If he continues taking strides, Jones will return to the form of his rookie season and possibility better than that.
