Alphonse Taylor, a former offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide, is at Alma Bryant High School. The first Unanimous All-American lineman for the Tide in the Saban era is now heading to the high school coaching ranks.
Andre Smith, a former five-star prospect in the 2006 recruiting class, played for Mike Shula and Saban. He arrived from Huffman High School in Birmingham (Ala.) and started at left tackle as a freshman. Smith made first-team All-Southeastern Conference in 2007 and 2008 while earning the Jacobs Blocking Trophy (2007), Outland Trophy (2008), and becoming an Unanimous All-American in 2008. He paced the Tide to an SEC Western Division title in 2008, helping it to a berth in the conference championship game against Florida. Smith was the No. 6 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and played 13 seasons (2009-21) in the pros. According to Moody Football on Twitter, Smith is now on Moody High School’s staff.
