The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be without one of their defensive leaders for the first couple of games.
Marlon Humphrey, a University of Alabama alumnus, has a foot injury and will need surgery.

He is expected to undergo the procedure Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network were first to report the news on Humphrey. Before the incident, the Hoover (Ala.) native was voted onto the NFL’s Top 100 players of 2023. He came in at No. 92 by his peers for his excellence as a cornerback on the field.

Humphrey, a former first-round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, is in his seventh season.

He has played in 90 career games, totaling 347 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and 12 interceptions (71 passes defended). The 2015 College Football Playoff National Champion finished 2022 with 71 tackles, three stops for loss, three sacks, three interceptions (seven passes defended), a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Baltimore is hopeful Humphrey will only miss a couple of games. He has become one of the best cornerbacks in the National Football League.
Humphrey is a three-time Pro Bowler (2019-20, 2022) and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019.
