Dylan Lonergan received praise from Nick Saban after the Crimson Tide’s final scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.
Lonergan is a freshman quarterback for the Crimson Tide, and he is a former four-star out of Brookwood High School in Georgia.
The former four-star enrolled at Alabama in January as an early enrollee and got the opportunity to participate in spring practice with the Tide. He impressed at A-Day with one of the most complete drives in the contest as he finished the game with 79 passing yards and a touchdown on 8-of-14 pass attempts.

Saban discussed Lonergan’s ‘great potential’ through fall camp during his Saturday press conference.
“He’s done really well,” Saban said. “He shows great ability, great potential. I think that the thing that he needs is experience. And everybody says, ‘Well, what’s experience? What’s your ability to self-assess?’ I have a better ability to self-assess right now than when I was 18, I don’t know about you guys, aight. So how do you learn how to do that? Through experience. You have experiences, you make mistakes, you mess up. You say, ‘Well, I’m not gonna do that again.’ And that’s how you learn and progress. He’s a talented guy and certainly a guy that we wanna continue to try to develop. But he’s done a nice job so far in camp.”
Alabama has not named a starting quarterback through multiple weeks of fall camp. Lonergan has made strides during his first fall camp, but is is still most likely a tall task for him to grab the reigns as a true freshman.
