Nick Saban assess Alabama football’s defensive line fall camp production

Nick Saban gave his thoughts on Alabama’s defensive line development through fall camp so far on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide lost veteran defensive linemen, Byron Young and DJ Dale, to the NFL at the conclusion of last season. They are looking to replace their production this upcoming season, and Saban feels the Tide needs more players to step up upfront.

The Alabama head coach highlighted a few Alabama defensive linemen, who have had good fall camps while discussing what the group needs to improve on.

“We gave up some plays today, especially early in the scrimmage,” Saban said. “We got to play the run a little bit better. We gotta be a little stronger at the line. We gotta strike out of our hips, control blockers, get off blocks better, fit the runs better. We got a lot of things that we can improve on. Jaheim Otis has done a really good job. Tim Kennan has had a really good camp. Justin (Eboigbe) has done a really good job. We just need more guys to play with more consistency and can’t make mistakes in pass rush lanes, can’t make mistakes when we’re running stunts and…pressures. That’s one thing that we need to continue to work on cleaning up.”
