Alabama football’s freshman offensive lineman, Kadyn Proctor is challenging the Crimson Tide’s veteran defensive players in fall camp.
Proctor is a former five-star offensive lineman out of Southeast Polk High School in Iowa. He is trending to make an impact in year one, and Alabama’s outside linebacker, Dallas Turner, feels the freshman is going to be special in the near future.
“Kadyn Proctor, that’s my guy,” Turner said. “We go at it every day in practice. He gets me better, I get him better every day. I can see the very fast progression that he’s having, day-by-day. You can tell he’s going to be one of those ones for sure. When his time comes, you can tell he’s definitely going to be one of those ones.”
Proctor is listed at 6-foot-7 and 330 pounds on Alabama’s roster. He combines athleticism to his frame, which makes him a talented lineman.
“Your first move is not always going to beat him because he is such a raw talent and the potential is unmatched but he knows how to recover really well,” said Turner. “So if you beat him on the first move, the recovery is right there, like he is back at you like you didn’t even do the move.”
Nick Saban recently discussed Proctor working with the first group of Alabama’s offensive line at left tackle.
“You know, he’s shown me, he’s big. And he’s made a lot of progress. He’s improved a lot. He’s got a lot of ability,” Saban said. “And there’s things he needs to continue to work on. And obviously, experience is gonna help him. And when you get experience…Experience is a culmination of how do you learn from your mistakes. That’s what experience is. So, he’s been pretty good about that. I think playing next to him at left guard has helped him a lot. Because it puts a veteran player next to him who gives him a little bit of security making calls and that type of thing. So, that’s been a good thing for us.”
Proctor is expected to be listed high in Alabama’s rotation when the Tide’s depth chart is released Monday.
