“A lot of people don’t know like I grew up a huge Auburn fan,” Williams answered. I wanted to go to Auburn since I was a little kid. So, when I first got that Auburn offer, man, it was like an unbelievable moment for me. I committed to Auburn off just like wanting to go to Auburn, wanting to win a national championship from Auburn. The guys before me like Nick Farley and Cam Newton and all those guys made it super popular, but Auburn was two hours away from my grandmother and Alabama is 30 minutes from my grandmother. We from Birmingham, Alabama. So me wanting to stay with her, me wanting her to come to the games easy, me wanting her to be a part of my journey through the NFL because that’s who helped me really like stay focused, my mother figure to get to where I was at the moment. I decided to go to Alabama just to stay closer to her and different things like that. It was some plus on the end. You get to play with Coach Saban, you get to learn from all the alumni that came through there. You get to learn from Jonathan Allen and all the vets that was on the team at the beginning. But my whole reason was going like just to stay close to my grandma and keep my grandma involved inside of my education, first of all beause my grandma is huge in education and my mom was huge in education. So to stay involved in my education and just stay involved in my life in general. Not just come in every Saturday, but she can come up there during the week if I needed her to, if I wanted her to.”
