Alabama freshman Caleb Downs wasted no time making headlines during the first game of his college career.
Downs was named a starter in the Crimson Tide’s secondary as it held Middle Tennessee to just seven points during the team’s win last Saturday.

But Downs’ efforts were recognized conference-wide as he was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday.

During the game, Downs totaled a team-high eight tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
He will now look to continue his solid start this weekend as Alabama prepares to take on Texas.
