Nick Saban has high praise for Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy

The Texas Longhorns’ junior wide receiver, Xavier Worthy gave Alabama’s defense problems during the early portion of last years’ matchup, and Nick Saban feels he is capable of doing the same this year.

Worthy was able to get behind the Crimson Tide’s defense twice on the Longhorns’ first offensive drive, and Quinn Ewers targeted him in both of those situations. Fortunately for the Tide, Worthy was unable to bring in those passes for receptions. However, the California native did finish the game with five receptions for 97 yards.

Saban feels the Texas wideout is possibly ‘one of the best’ wide receivers in college football.

“He’s a really good player, very fast,” Saban said during the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “Got really good hands, runs good routes, can drop his weight getting out of the breaks and they put him in some spots that they can take advantage of that and get him the ball. He’s an outstanding player, probably one of the best receivers in the country.”

Alabama’s secondary will be tasked with slowing down the speedster in Saturday’s matchup. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
