The Alabama standard wasn’t met last Saturday during the team’s loss to Texas leaving many frustrated from the early season disappointment.
As Week 3 quickly approaches the Crimson Tide will need to adjust promptly as conference play is just right around the corner.
But the team is carrying a different mindset into its preparation this week which was explained by offensive lineman Tyler Booker.
“We’re pissed off, I’m not gonna lie,” Booker said to the media on Monday. “Who wants to lose at home?”
Although many were left frustrated by the outcome, Booker is aware that dropping one game doesn’t mean the end of the world and that all of Alabama’s goals are still very much obtainable.
“There’s only been two undefeated national championship teams here at The University of Alabama,” Booker said. “All our goals are still attainable we can still win the SEC West, still win the SEC, and get into the College Football Playoff.
“This was just a wake-up call for us. We’re all taking heed to what Coach is saying. In order to be who we are and who we need to be to play to the Alabama standard, we have to execute.”
Head coach Nick Saban also shared his confidence in his squad, stating he’d be shocked if the team didn’t respond positively this week.
“I would be shocked if this team doesn’t respond in a really positive way to try and get better, to try and do the things they need to do to get fixed,” Saban said. “But we have to have better execution. We gotta do simple things better, whether it’s pass protection, blocking, controlling the line of scrimmage, not giving up big plays on defense. Those are the things that are gonna change.”
