Alabama has not had a consistent pass rush from its defensive line in the last few years.
Christian Barmore (2020) and Phidarian Mathis (2021) were quality linemen, but the Crimson Tide lacked multiple players up front winning one-on-one matchups against offensive linemen. It allowed Hendon Hooker (Tennessee) and Jayden Daniels (LSU) to record marquee performances in victories over the Tide in 2022. Alabama also allowed Quinn Ewers (Texas) to total 349 passing yards and three touchdowns in a 24-34 loss for the Tide. Ewers was not sacked throughout the game in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Tide fans are concerned with the lack of a pass rush. Alabama has veteran players, but is it time for the coaching staff to consider playing more young guys up front? The answer to this question can be found in the video above from Monday’s In My Own Words episode.
