It was a long time in the making but Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie recorded his first NFL reception on Sunday.
Metchie caught a 17-yard pass from quarterback CJ Stroud in the Texans’ 31-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

The score of the game was minuscule compared to the accomplishment Metchie made of making it back to the field.
Metchie was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia which sidelined him for the entirety of his rookie season in 2022. Since then he has battled his way back to the field and returned to the Texans at the start of training camp.
His reception on Sunday will now be one of many to come in his career.
