Alabama fans were a little concerned about Kevin Steele calling the defense from the press box instead of the field.
They enjoyed the back-and-forth Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruitt had with Nick Saban on the sideline. Tide fans also got a kick out of Saban ripping Pete Golding on the sideline too. Coach Steele has been in the booth for the first three games this season.

Alabama’s defense is allowing 14.7 points per game, including three points to South Florida. Steele will compete against Lane Kiffin to offset Mississippi’s offense at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saban told reporters at Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference he allows the coaches to decide where they want to be. He leaves it up to the coaches to choose where they will operate the best.
Steele, 65, chose to call the defense from upstairs.
“That’s worked out well for us so far,” Saban said about Steele’s decision to be in the box.
Alabama’s defense played very well against the Bulls, despite the weather and the Crimson Tide’s offensive struggles.

Steele’s group created four sacks and ten tackles for loss in a 17-3 victory. Coach Kiffin is an offensive mastermind who looks to exploit every weakness for the Tide. Steele has to be at his best on CBS with Alabama opening SEC action.
