Dan Campbell knew he had a difference maker when he selected Brian Branch in the second round of the NFL Draft, but the Detroit Lions’ head coach now sees he has a marquee superstar in the secondary.

Branch, a University of Alabama alumnus, announced himself to the National Football League in the Lions’ season opener versus the Kansas City Chiefs. He recorded a pass breakup and his first career interception. Branch picked off Patrick Mahomes II and returned it for a 50-yard touchdown, helping Detroit to a 21-20 victory on the road. Campbell believes he has the talented pieces, including Branch, to make the Lions a playoff team. The native Georgian had his jersey featured at the NFL Hall of Fame for his performance. Branch, a former four-star, assisted the Crimson Tide to two SEC Championships and a national championship.
