Nick Saban comments on Deion Sanders and Colorado

Positive or negative, everyone has an opinion on Deion Sanders and Colorado.

A program in purgatory is now one on the rise as Coach Prime has already tripled the Buffs’ win total from a season ago.

He’s received praise and criticism for his unique and singular personality through his short tenure in Boulder thus far, but he certainly has his admirers on the coaching side with Alabama head coach Nick Saban being one of them.

Saban discussed Sanders and Colorado’s success during the SEC coaches teleconference earlier this week.

“I haven’t been able to see him a lot,” Saban said. “Saw a little bit of the game last week against Colorado State, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders. First, he’s a great person and he’s done a great job of marketing the program to create a lot of national interest.”

Saban and Sanders’s relationship recently sparked when the pair began to appear alongside each other during Aflac commercials during the season. But Sanders’ acting ability and playing career aren’t the only things Saban admires about him.

“I see their team playing well on the field,” Saban said. “They play with discipline, they do a good job of executing. They’ve been able to score points, play a decent defense, so all those things to me are indicators that he’s a really good coach. I’ve always thought that, he’s always been successful, whether it was Jackson State, high school or now at Colorado, his teams have always been well coached.”

Through three weeks Colorado has gathered the attention of the college football world with wins over TCU, Nebraska and now Colorado State as it now turns it now looks to hold the spotlight against Oregon this weekend.
