Alabama continued to bring along quarterback Jalen Milroe in its 40-17 win over Mississippi State on Saturday.
It was clear that the gameplan from Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was run-centric as the Crimson Tide rushed the ball 43 times compared to just 13 passes on the day.
Milroe finished the day completing 10-of-12 passes for 164 yards and carried the ball 11 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
Following the game, Saban provided his instant analysis of the performance of his quarterback.
“I think he’s building more confidence every day,” Saban said. “I think he’s played better in each game, and I think he’ll continue to do that as he gets experience. I think we’re all a little smarter as we get older because we have more experience, and I think as he gains more experience, he’s going to gain more confidence.
“He’s very committed in preparing the right way and doing the things that he needs to do to be able to play well in the game, and I think as he gets more comfortable understanding defense, he’ll be able to make quicker decisions and he’s gonna be fine.”
Milroe has now thrown for 838 yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions and completed 69.2% of his passes through four starts on the year for Alabama.
The Crimson Tide will now turn its attention to Texas A&M come Monday.
