Bryce Young

Panthers actively pursuing a No. 1 wide receiver for rookie QB Bryce Young

Bob Donnan - USA Today Sports

Carolina is not pleased with being winless through four games, but it does not see Bryce Young as the problem.

The No. 1 overall pick of this year’s NFL Draft had his highest completion rating (78.1%) and most passing yards (204) of his rookie campaign for the Panthers against the Minnesota Vikings; however, the team suffered a 13-21 loss. Young has shown the accuracy, arm strength, and presence to stand in the pocket, despite getting hit. Frank Reich, Carolina’s head coach, has seen several passes dropped by receivers. The Panthers believe in Young, but it does not trust the group it has at wide receiver.

According to Jordan Schultz, an NFL Insider from the Score, Carolina is actively pursuing a top No. 1 receiving option. Players such as Jerry Jeudy (Denver Broncos) and Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders) have been tossed into the rumor mill, but nothing has been confirmed for either. The Panthers want to see Young work in Reich’s offense, but he needs a true receiving threat.

We will see how Carolina chooses to attack the market.
