Alabama football strives to be at the forefront of college football on and off the field in more ways than one.
The University of Alabama has a Behavorial Health department in its sports science center. This department helps athletes address their mental and behavioral health needs.
Nick Saban talked about how Crimson Tide coaches are benefiting from the department’s work on the latest episode of “Hey Coach.”
“There is principles and values of the organization and there are standards, and everybody has to buy into them,” Saban said. “Now, how we get everybody to buy into them and do them is different because everybody’s an individual and everybody’s a little bit different. That’s one of the things that I think we’ve done well through the whole psychological mental health program that we have going with a couple of really good psychiatrists that help us know our players better in terms of how can we get them to do the right things, how can we get them to do the things they need to do to be successful based on their personality type and their psychological disposition.”
Alabama football highlighted its behavioral science branch in August.
