Alabama continues to show interest in Auburn 4-Star DL commit Malik Autry

Opelika High School’s junior defensive lineman, Malik Autry is having an impressive season, and the 6-foot-6 junior is hopeful it will lead to more success on the recruiting front.

Autry holds multiple offers and is currently committed to the Auburn Tigers. The 2025 recruit garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites at the moment.

With desires to increase his recruiting stock, the four-star remains a solid Auburn pledge.

“Auburn is home,” Autry told Touchdown Alabama Friday. “We have a great relationship. I went to the Georgia game last week, and it was one of the best games I’ve gone to so far, and it was a daytime game. I have a great relationship with coach Garrett and Freeze. I spoke with him an hour last night before this game. He told me to continue to stay low. He’s coaching me from a distance already, and I just can’t wait to get down there and actually be under him and translate to the college field.”

On Friday night, Opelika played against Auburn High and lost 31-30. Autry is happy with the effort his teammates gave, but he wants to see more of a buy in from Opelika’s whole squad moving forward.

“We played a good game, but there’s a lot we could’ve done better,” said Autry. “It’s all about the little things outside of practice, what you do outside of football matters, it all affects the game.”

Alabama is still in contact with the junior, and he is hopeful an offer from them will come soon.

“The relationship with Alabama has been good,” said Autry. “I still talk to the defensive coordinator and the D-line coach. They’re taking it day by day. They watch my film and evaluate me. They just want to see what they want to see, but I played a good game tonight, so hopefully I get that offer soon.”

The Opelika High product is thankful for the opportunities he has, but he realizes he must continue to do his part to achieve his dreams.

“I’m 6-fooot-6 and in high-school ball, everyone is shorter than me, so I am just trying to stay low and play with my hands more,” Autry said.
