Nick Saban’s former assistants are spread far and wide across the landscape of college football, and after defeating Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M last week he will be going up against another one on Saturday.

Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos is the man who formerly resided in Tuscaloosa during the 2018 season where he served as the quarterbacks coach and associate head coach. That season he brought along a room that included Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts and Mac Jones.

Led by Tagovailoa at quarterback, the Crimson Tide made a run to the national title game but ultimately fell to Clemson and soon after Enos would promptly depart for a role at Miami.

Since then Saban believes a lot has changed with Enos as a play caller as he brings the Razorbacks’ offense into Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“I think he’s changed quite a bit from when he was a coordinator before he was on our staff, and I think being with Mike Locksley, who was the coordinator here when Dan was here, and then having coached for Mike, I think he has changed quite a bit. But in a very good way,” Saban said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “I think they play well and they take advantage of the players that they have and present a lot of issues and problems for you defensively.”

This is also Enos’ second stint at Arkansas as he was the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2015-17 but was brought back this season by head coach Sam Pittman after the departure of Kendal Briles.

Despite being several years removed, Saban might be breaking out the 2018 tape in preparation.

Alabama will kickoff against Arkansas this Saturday at 11 a.m. CT with ESPN on the call.
