Loss to Tennessee has bad taste in mouth of Alabama starting linebacker

Deontae Lawson runs out of the tunnel against Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Alabama football’s starting linebacker, Deontae Lawson has not forgotten about the Crimson Tide’s loss to Tennessee last year.

Alabama was defeated by Tennessee 52-49 on a 40-yard field goal in Knoxville last season. Lawson started at linebacker for the Crimson Tide in the loss against the Vols and finished the game with seven tackles.

The Sophomore has had an impressive season so far with 37 tackles as a leader on the Tide’s defense.

The Mobile, Alabama native has preferred to take things week by week, but the loss to the Vols last year is not totally out of sight, out of mind for Lawson.

“I’ve just been trying to take it week by week,” Lawson said. “I’m definitely excited now that this past weekend is over. But yeah, it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”

Alabama is set to face Tennessee on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 21 with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
