He’s already been heralded as one of the top players at his position in the country but there was still eve room to grow for Kool-Aid McKinstry.
McKinstry’s onfield performance has been as expected this season, but what has grown the most in his game is his ability to affect others on the Alabama roster
Nick Saban discussed McKinstry’s growth as a leader in secondary during his press conference on Wednesday.
“He’s done a good job. He has a lot of confidence in what he’s supposed to do and I think he’s starting to see the importance of how influencing other people can actually create value for himself,” Saban said. “But that’s a little harder to do at corner than it is when you’re playing safety or Star because you’re in the middle of things and you’re making calls. But he’s done a good job of that.”
According to Pro Football Focus, quarterbacks complete passes at just 47.8% when targeting McKinstry as he’s also added 18 tackles and two pass breakups.
Alabama will kick off against Tennessee on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
