Why Tennessee DB coach feels Jalen Milroe is ‘hell of a player’

The Tennessee Vols’ defensive back coach Willie Martinez gave his thoughts on Alabama’s quarterback, Jalen Milroe earlier this week.

Milroe has thrown for 1,397 yards and eleven touchdowns while throwing four interceptions this season. He has had impressive moments this season with his ability to pose as a threat with his impressive deep ball and athleticism. His outstanding performance on the field has Tennessee’s attention.

Martinez discussed Milroe during his press conference earlier.

“We thought he was a hell of a football player last year,” Martinez said. “When we were preparing for the game, obviously, we thought he was going to be the starter. He was playing well. He’s matured, obviously, a year later. He has got a great arm, strong arm that can make every throw. He is obviously a dual-threat in the quarterback run game or when the pocket collapses, he’ll scramble to run or at times, he will scramble to throw the ball down the field. He really feels a lot more confident, a lot more comfortable.”

Tennessee will look to slow down Milroe and Alabama’s offense in their Saturday matchup. It will be a home game for Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. CST.
