He gives off a vibe of being an intense coach, but some things bring Nick Saban joy.

Winning championships for Alabama football is one of the aspects; however, his marriage to Miss Terry, love for his children and grandchildren, and love for his players mean more to him.

A lot of people do not know it, but Coach Saban is also a lover of animals. The 71-year-old explained Thursday on his weekly radio show about the new addition to his family. He mentioned how tough it has been on the family when it comes to pets. Before he faces Tennessee in a rivalry game, Saban discussed the new pet that’s bringing his family closer together during football season.

“We’ve gone through some really, really gruesome times the last few weeks with our dogs,” Saban said. “We finally got a new dog, Abby. We are very, very thankful that Miss Terry has something at home she can love.”

The Saban family had a dog pass away and it saddened everyone. Abby brings new excitement and comfort to Coach Saban, Miss Terry, and the family. She brings joy, but Abby will also take in her first “Third Saturday in October” rivalry game.

Alabama plays Tennessee on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
