Why Brian Kelly feels LSU’s win over Alabama last year is ‘ancient history’

LSU’s head football coach Brian Kelly discussed the Tigers’ win against the Crimson Tide last year during his Wednesday SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Alabama lost to the Tigers last year 32-31, ending its hopes of making the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide is back in position to make a push at a playoff berth this season, but LSU stands in the way, per usual. Alabama will take on the Tigers next week in a big SEC matchup in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Tigers have lost twice this season and are trailing Alabama in the SEC West standings. With a matchup in Tuscaloosa on the horizon, Kelly feels his last win over Nick Saban is in the rear-view mirror

“It seems like ancient history,” Kelly said. “It helps with the recruiting process. But for us to get into the ranks of Georgia and Alabama, you have to do these things consistently. We haven’t been consistent yet.”

Alabama and LSU are both on BYE weeks.
