The University of Alabama is the needle of collegiate sports, especially football, and the world knows it.
Last week, Crimson Tide fans packed out Bryant-Denny Stadium for a matchup against Tennessee. Alabama scored 27 unanswered points in the second half, earning a 34-20 victory over the Volunteers. It returned to the winning side of the “Third Saturday in October” rivalry, but the Tide gave a marquee television network something huge in its performance.

According to Sports Media Watch, the Alabama-Tennessee game was the top-rated matchup of the season for CBS.
CBS pulled in a 4.2 rating and had 8.1 million people watching. Alabama-Tennessee had the second-highest rating from the weekend behind Penn State versus Ohio State. When a network schedules Alabama, the Tide never disappoints with pulling in viewers. Whether it’s Alabama fans, Tide haters, or people wanting to watch a good brand of football, Alabama football gets people to television sets. Ratings should be massive next week as the Tide hosts Louisiana State University on Nov. 4 at home.
