Nick Saban did not always dream of being a football coach.
Saban grew up in West Virginia, and he had a heavy interest in cars while working close to his dad. The Alabama head coach reminisced on his interest in cars during “Hey Coach.”
“I never really wanted to be a coach,” Saban said. “I grew up around cars. My dad had a service station. I worked in it from the time I was 11 years old, and I worked on cars. I drove cars when I was 11 years old. In those days, there was a clutch I always just thought I’d be in business, and I really deep down inside wanted to go to, I think it’s called the Norwood Institute. It’s a General Motors training program for how to become a car dealer.”
Saban eventually found a love for coaching, and Alabama fans are grateful he did. He and the Tide are gearing up for a big SEC matchup against the LSU Tigers.
