The personal foul from the hit Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner put on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has been a hot-button topic since last Saturday’s game.
Many believe Turner should have been called for targeting due to the contact with Daniels’ head during the play while others simply side with the call on the field.
Nick Saban had a look at the play both on the field and on replay following, so during his Monday press conference he offered his own perspective on the hit.
“You always tell the players you want them to see what they hit,” Saban said. “He hit the guy sort of in the chin, so it wasn’t like a direct hit or an intentional hit to the head. It was a really good hit, but unfortunately, his helmet did slide up and hit the guy. It’s a foul if you hit the quarterback in the head. It’s going to get called all the time.
“And we just want to have him keep his eyes up and see what he hits and hopefully target down a little bit so it doesn’t happen again.”
Turner’s hit on Daniels ended the quarterback’s night and according to Tigers head coach Brian Kelly, his status for the next game will be up in the air.
Alabama will now turn it’s attention to Kentucky as it will travel on the road for an 11 a.m. kickoff this Saturday.
