College Football Playoff selection chair details keeping Alabama at No. 8

College Football Playoff chair Eugene “Boo” Corrigan discussed why Oregon is above Alabama in the latest Playoff rankings on Tuesday.

Alabama defeated the LSU Tigers last Saturday 42-28 to get one step closer to clinching the SEC West.

The Crimson Tide are 8-1 after the win and so are the Oregon Ducks. Some are arguing Alabama should be above the Ducks’ in the rankings based on their current resume.

The Ducks remained in front of Alabama at No. 6, while the Tide remained at No. 8. Corrigan provided a breakdown of the committee’s decision.

“As we look at this as a committee, we continue to evaluate the play on the field,” Corrigan said. “We continue to evaluate the resume, as well as statistics. Texas has the win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa, which is a significant game overall this season as we look at that as well as Oregon continuing to play really well, their win over Utah, and the balance
of the top five offense and top 15 defense.”

Alabama will continue to state its case for a playoff spot on the road against Kentucky last Saturday.
