Alabama NFL Draft Prospects

Alabama CB playing himself into first-round NFL Draft pick status

Troy Taormina - USA TODAY Sports

NFL Draft prognosticators have raved about Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry, but Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold is the one who has a significant decision to make after this season.

The third-year playmaker is having an incredible season for the Crimson Tide.

Arnold, a native of Tallahassee, Fla., has grown into one of the best defenders in the Southeastern Conference. He is one of the leaders on defense for Alabama, and the coaching from Kevin Steele and Travariss Robinson has caused him to blossom.

The 6-foot, 196-pounder is third on the team for total tackles (49) and has six tackles for loss, a sack, nine pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, a forced fumble, and three interceptions. He leads the team in pass breakups and interceptions. Arnold dominated last week’s matchup for Alabama against Kentucky at Kroger Field. He finished with four total tackles, a tackle for loss, a pass breakup, a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble, and an interception. Arnold posted back-to-back games with a takeaway versus Louisiana State University and Kentucky. He paced the Crimson Tide to a 49-21 victory over the Wildcats.

NFL scouts see an aggressive defender in Arnold, but he has improved his technique. He breaks well on the football, has elite instincts/coverage skills, and is a secure tackler. McKinstry has garnered recognition as potentially a top 10 selection for next year’s draft. Alabama could also see Arnold turn pro as well. He is focused on winning a national championship, but Arnold has options to look over after the season. He turns his attention to helping the Tide against Chattanooga in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
