Alabama football is where it needs to be at the right time of the season.
After getting a 49-21 victory over Kentucky, the Crimson Tide clinched a Southeastern Conference Western Division title and will battle the University of Georgia for an SEC Championship. Many thought it would not be possible for the Tide to be in this situation after its week two loss to Texas at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Nick Saban and Kevin Steele have the defense playing excellent, and Tommy Rees is in a groove as a first-year offensive coordinator for Alabama. The Tide has scored 40+ points in back-to-back games while its defense has shut teams down in the second half of matchups. We will see where the College Football Playoff Committee ranks Alabama, but a former Tide quarterback feels his Alma mater is playing its best at the right time.

Greg McElroy, a 2009 BCS National Champion, saw what Alabama did to an LSU defense that had several injuries.
He also saw what the Tide did to a good Kentucky defense. Jalen Milroe accounted for six touchdowns — three passing and three rushing — and Alabama’s defense shut Ray Davis down. Kevin Steele dialed up pressure, and it affected Devin Leary all game.
