Jalen Milroe changes shower routine to improve mental toughness

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe evades LSU defender

Alabama football’s starting quarterback Jalen Milroe seems to always be looking to create an edge.

Milroe has come on strong for the Crimson Tide in recent weeks as he has Alabama looking like a true National Championship contender late in the season.

The Texas native was a guest on “The Next Round” earlier this week, and he discussed his gameday routine, which includes a unique showering technique.

“I get up every game day, no matter what time it is, at six o’clock, and I meditate and take some time away from football and get my mind off of it, take time away to listen to music,” Milroe said. “I shower, hot, cold, hot, cold. I look over some material for the game and then the rest of the day, I don’t look. I don’t look at no football. I don’t look at no football and just have the day to just have a peace of mind throughout the day.”

Milroe was asked what was the thought process behind the showering method.

“Mental toughness,” Milroe answered.  “I think to start your day off, having some type of scenario to put you through the fire or put you in some sense of having strong mental toughness. That’s how I start my day off. So, that’s something I challenge myself, is just taking a cold shower, just start the day off, and I started doing that and I think it’s helped me out.”

The Alabama quarterback will be up early again Saturday with Alabama set to take on Chattanooga in Bryant-Denny Stadium in an early game. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CST.
