Two Alabama players record first touchdown catches as Crimson Tide players

Gary Cosby Jr. - USA Today Sports

Senior Day for the University of Alabama is about the senior class, but other players can make a memory of it.

Malik Benson (wide receiver) and Robbie Ouzts (tight end) had a moment on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium versus Chattanooga they will never forget. Benson, a junior college transfer, was projected to be a game-breaking weapon for the Crimson Tide in the preseason. He caught three passes for 23 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown catch from sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe in the second quarter. Benson used his speed to get wide open for his first career score with the Tide.

Ouzts, a former three-star recruit in the 2021 class, has been known for his blocking. The South Carolina native got rewarded against the Mocs with his first career touchdown catch. He brought in a 7-yard score from Milroe in the second quarter on an athletic reception and maneuver. Milroe felt good about seeing Benson and Ouzts have a special moment on senior day.

This will give both guys confidence going into the Iron Bowl and the postseason. Benson’s explosiveness could be significant versus Auburn and Georgia. Ouzts’ physicality and improvement as a receiver could be marquee as well.
