Alabama DB admits to not honoring 24-hour rule after Tide defeated UTC

Alabama players are so locked into the Iron Bowl that a marquee defender did not enjoy the win over Chattanooga for 24 hours.

Malachi Moore, a senior defensive back, spoke Monday to Crimson Tide reporters. He admitted to not following the 24-hour rule following a victory on senior day against the Mocs at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Moore took Auburn’s matchup versus New Mexico State, watching the Aggies hand the Tigers a 31-10 beatdown. Alabama head coach Nick Saban explained the importance of execution in his presser, but it is nice to see a player in a leadership role set the tone by focusing on an in-state rivalry.

“I’m not going to lie, I watched [Auburn’s] game on Saturday,” Moore said.

Moore, a native of Trussville, Ala., knows all too well about the Iron Bowl.

He is an in-state product who emerged in the matchup as a freshman in 2020.

Moore collected an interception and made several tackles in a 42-13 victory for the Crimson Tide over Auburn. He helped the team to a Southeastern Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff National Championship that year.

Moore has an opportunity to turn in another impressive performance against the Tigers.
