Alabama football’s cornerback, Kool-Aid McKinstry shared his feelings after being replaced by Caleb Downs on punt return last Saturday.
McKinstry has served as the Crimson Tide’s starting punt returner for most of the season. Unfortunately for Alabama, he has had trouble with fielding the football at times. He muffed a punt in Alabama’s win over Chattanooga and was replaced by Caleb Downs. The freshman went on to return a punt 85 yards for a touchdown in the game.

A reporter asked McKinstry about the change Tuesday during Alabama’s player media availability.
“I’m just here for the team,” McKinstry said. “Whenever my number’s called, that’s when I would step up. Caleb did a good job this weekend. I feel like he stepped up into the role and did a great job with scoring the touchdown and just going out there and making sure he did well for the team. So, when my number’s called, I’ll be ready.”
The Alabama native is still considered one of college football’s best cornerbacks. He will have an opportunity to leave his stamp on the Iron Bowl Saturday in Auburn.
