Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave the latest injury update on linebacker Deontae Lawson and defensive back Jaylen Key during his Wednesday press conference.
Saban shared that both players had returned to practice as the team continues to prepare for Auburn on Saturday.
“They both practiced quite a bit this week, and we’ll see how they continue to progress,” Saban said.
Lawson and Key both sustained injuries during Alabama’s 42-28 win over LSU back on Nov. 4.
In their absence, the Crimson Tide has seen linebackers Trezmen Marshall and Jihaad Campbell, along with defensive backs Kristian Story and Trey Amos all take on larger roles.
In prior weeks Saban has mentioned Alabama’s Thursday practice as a major indicator if players would be able to take the field that weekend, so seeing Lawson and Key already return to the field is a promising sign.
Alabama will kickoff against Auburn inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with CBS on the call.
