Alabama football escapes Jordan-Hare Stadium with Iron Bowl win over Auburn

John David Mercer - USA Today Sports

The Iron Bowl is the greatest rivalry game in college football.

Alabama played sloppy, but Nick Saban escaped Jordan-Hare Stadium with a victory over Auburn. The Crimson Tide got a 27-24 win over the Tigers on a Hail Mary heave from Jalen Milroe to Isaiah Bond in the fourth quarter. Alabama’s run defense allowed 244 yards rushing and two touchdowns, but Milroe saved the day. He totaled 259 passing yards, 107 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Jermaine Burton led the Crimson Tide for receiving yards with 107 on four catches, including a 68-yard touchdown.

Bond had five catches for 75 yards, including a game-winning, 31-yard touchdown catch.

Alabama did not play its best game, but the atmosphere at Jordan-Hare did not bite it again.

The Tide must now regroup for the SEC Championship Game against Georgia.
