The next two weeks of games will be critical in sorting out the College Football Playoff seeding and the outcome of Florida State’s upcoming games will be under the microscope.
The Seminoles are amongst the few unbeaten teams remaining, but losing star quarterback Jordan Travis for the season has made the team vulnerable to the point where some believe that it won’t be an automatic bid if it remains unbeaten.
One of those critics is SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum who made the claim that a one-loss Alabama should be in over Florida State even if it wins out.
“This is easy, Alabama should get in,” Finebaum said during a segment on SEC Nation on Saturday. “I mean, it is absurd to keep using the phrase ‘deserving’ .. It’s the four best teams in the country. Let’s quit trying to make this complicated.”
Finebaum’s major argument was the fact that if the Crimson Tide were to win out, it would mean a victory over Georgia in the SEC Championship which would be the best win in the country to add to its already superior resume.
“Alabama and Florida State is not a difficult conversation,” Finebaum continued. “Florida State’s best win was against LSU on the first weekend. Move them out of the way. I don’t care what their record is. I had an analyst on the show this week (who said) ‘They’ve got to go in.’ No they don’t have to go in.
“Alabama would have just beaten Georgia in the State of Georgia. Put them in.”
