WATCH: Jalen Milroe’s dad celebrates his game-winning TD pass in the Iron Bowl

Gary Cosby Jr. - USA Today Sports

The finish to last week’s Iron Bowl was special for Nick Saban, Alabama fans, and Crimson Tide players.

No one will forget the iconic moment on 4th and 31 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Jalen Milroe added his name to the folklore of Alabama football greatness. He found sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Bond in the back of the end zone for a 31-yard, game-winning touchdown to silence everyone at Auburn. Alabama emerged with a 27-24 victory, and Milroe accounted for 366 total yards and two touchdowns. He shared SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors, but he was more excited to have his father — Quentin — share in the moment with him. Quentin Milroe celebrated his son’s heroics as he watched the final play.

Milroe observed how people doubted his son’s potential in the preseason and begged for him to be benched.

Quentin taught Jalen many things, including how to handle adversity. He and his wife are military veterans. They saw danger from all ends, but they continued in faith. The same faith, family, toughness, and commitment values are in their son. Jalen did not pout when he was benched in week three against South Florida, and his maturity allowed him to have the moment versus Auburn. He now gets ready to lead the Tide to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face Georgia for an SEC Championship in Atlanta, Ga.
