Kirby Smart provided the latest update on a group of Georgia players, who missed the Bulldogs’ last game on Thursday.
Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, Tate Rudlege and Rara Thomas did not play in Georgia’s win over Georgia Tech. Smart told reporters he is unsure of the status of each player ahead of the SEC Championship game.
“I don’t have a lot more answers now than I had on Monday,” Smart said. “They have not been able to do a lot. Each one has worked kind of independently. Tate has done some drill work, some 11-on-11 stuff. Brock’s sprinkled in some of that. The other guys have been able to run and do some things. We’re going to find out today what their availability is to be honest.”
The Georgia head coach also revealed he was not a fan of people accusing the Bulldogs of sitting the group of players because they were playing Georgia Tech on last week.
“It bothers me that people have said out there that we sat these guys for the last game,” said Smart. “That wasn’t the case at all. They couldn’t go and I don’t know if they’re going to be able to go in this game. It’s just unfortunate to have those kind of injuries, especially four starters on offense.”
Concrete news on if this group of players will play in the game will most likely be released close to game time.
