The sophomore wide receiver returned against the marquee program of his home state and ripped the hearts of its fan base.
Bond, a native of Buford, Ga., made several critical plays in Saturday’s Southeastern Conference Championship Game to end Georgia’s 29-game winning streak. He caught five passes for 79 yards, including four receptions on a significant drive in the fourth quarter. Bond’s effort on a 75-yard drive (nine plays) finished on a 1-yard touchdown run from Roydell Williams, pushing Alabama to a 27-17 lead over the Bulldogs. The former four-star had a couple of impressive plays with one coming on a sliding catch. He prepared himself all season for the moment he had last week, pushing his team to a 27-24 victory in the SEC title game.
Bond and the Tide have the College Football Playoff Committee in a tough spot.
