Despite gaining some traction in the previous weeks, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe won’t be making the trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
The top four candidates for college football’s most prestigious award were announced on Monday which included LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, Washington quarterback Michael Penix and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Milroe was going to be an outside shot to make the cut no matter what, but he did receive a vote of confidence from his head coach after he led Alabama to its 27-24 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship.
“Jalen has done a fantastic job for us,” Nick Saban said. “His transition and improvement as a player has certainly been a huge factor on the success of our team. I don’t have an opportunity to watch all these other guys on a consistent basis, so it’s not fair for me to make a comparison.
“From our team’s standpoint, he is certainly a Heisman candidate in terms of what he’s done to help our team be successful.”
This season Milroe has completed 65.5% of his passes for 2,718 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions while also rushing for 13 touchdowns across 12 games.
Although a Heisman Trophy won’t be in the cards this season, a national championship still is as Alabama prepares to take on Michigan on Jan. 1 in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
