Some oddsmakers opened with Michigan as a 1.5 to 2-point favorite over Alabama.
The Crimson Tide has returned to the CFP after missing out last year. Nick Saban is pursuing his eighth national championship and seventh at Alabama. It would securely put him over Paul W. “Bear” Bryant if he wins a national title this year. People are still overlooking the Tide, including the creator of Barstool Sports. Dave Portnoy, a Michigan fan, says the Wolverines are not afraid of Alabama. He said on Twitter he will be betting $1 million on Michigan to take down the Tide. Portnoy is confident in Michigan.

Jim Harbaugh lost to Nick Saban in the 2019 Citrus Bowl when Michigan last played Alabama.
