Alabama football’s linebacker commit, Sterling Dixon will not participate in bowl prep with the Crimson Tide, but he is on campus as an early enrollee.
Dixon is a 2024 four-star linebacker out of Spanish Fort High School in Alabama. He is one of the Alabama 2024 commits, who has opted to experience Rose Bowl prep with the Crimson Tide. The Alabama pledge is excited to take the first step in his Alabama football journey.
“This is everything I dreamed of,” Dixon said. “This was what I prayed to God for. It’s what me and my family work for, and it’s here. Now, it’s time for me to get to work and just try to pursue my dreams. I wanna be a freshman All-American, I want to win a national championship and I want to get to the NFL. I’m just laser-focused right now and that’s the biggest thing.”
Dixon’s senior season had its ups and downs during his first season at Spanish Forth. He suffered a shoulder injury during the season, and he was expected to miss the rest of his senior season. However, the four-star refused to let his injury be an excuse. He decided to hold off on getting surgery until the end of the season and returned to the field to finish his high school career on the field.

Unfortunately for Dixon, his shoulder will keep him from participating in bowl prep, but he is still excited to learn.
“I had a torn labrum,” Dixon told Touchdown Alabama. “I really just wanted to play, finish my senior season and make sure I finished strong. I wanted to just try to get a state championship before it was all said and done. I just really tough through it, and honestly, I just decided to have surgery as soon as possible. As soon as it ended, I wound up getting surgery and now during the bowl week, I’m pretty much just going to watch and honestly just learn. Even though I’m not gonna be on the field, I feel like if I just watch what they’re doing, talk to the coaches, meet with the coaches, it’s just going to help me out in the long run. So in the spring, I’m going to be ahead of the guys that haven’t been there. I’m just ready.”
Alabama’s starting linebacker, Deontae Lawson is one of Dixon’s former teammates. The opportunity to play with Lawson and learn from him is something Dixon is looking forward
“He just tells me I’m going to give you everything that I got and everything I learned, so you can pretty much be in the same situation I was in,” said Dixon. “I know that’s a guy that I’m gonna stay under, learn from, and it is going to be a fun ride. I’m going to learn everything I can, and that’s really just the biggest thing. I’m willing to do everything it takes to get on the field.”
The Crimson Tide plans to use Dixon in a variety of ways as he is a hybrid linebacker prospect with experience rushing from the edge and playing off the ball.
