Auburn fans go crazy for an Alabama 5-star WR commit at a basketball game versus USC

Auburn fans are not giving up on the potential for Hugh Freeze to possibly flip five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams from Alabama to Auburn.

Williams, who reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class, had a remarkable career at Saraland (Ala.) High School — earning a Class 6A State Championship this year. He put on a show versus Clay-Chalkville High School and earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Alabama-Mississippi Allstar Game. Williams told Justin Smith, the Director of Scouting and Recruiting for Touchdown Alabama Magazine, he is “locked in to playing at Alabama.” Auburn fans went crazy for Williams in Sunday’s basketball game between the Tigers and the USC Trojans. Fans started chanting, “We want Williams!” from the student section.

It is unlikely Auburn flips Williams from Alabama, especially with the successful track record Nick Saban has in putting receivers in the first round of the NFL Draft. He placed Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III, Jaylen Waddle, and Jameson Williams in the first round. Smith became the first receiver in Crimson Tide history to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy, capturing the coveted bronze award in 2020.
